Lake Nona partners come together to give back to frontline health care workers<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Move Nona’s self-driving shuttles<\/a> were up and running on a special assignment. Instead of picking up passengers, they were delivering pizzas!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Known for innovation and collaboration, Lake Nona partners came together to provide lunch for health care workers on the front lines at the Orlando VA Medical Center<\/a>. As part of on-going efforts to support first responders, nearby restaurant Park Pizza & Brewing<\/a> donated pizzas and teamed up with Beep, Inc. (operator of the Move Nona autonomous shuttle program) for a special delivery via self-driving shuttle to VA employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are hundreds of\nhealthcare workers in our backyard in Lake Nona Medical City that are on the\nfrontlines of this crisis each and every day,\u201d said Jennifer Thompson with Park\nPizza & Brewing. \u201cWe\u2019re proud to actively support for our health care\nworkers in these challenging times, and this latest lunch delivery is a\nwonderful example of the generosity and collaboration that Lake Nona is known\nfor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Typically, the shuttles\noperate daily on fixed routes throughout Lake Nona. With operation temporarily\nsuspended due to the coronavirus, the shuttles are finding new and innovative\nways to support the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lunch delivery is\nthe just one of the many ways in which the Lake Nona community has banned\ntogether to support those on the frontlines of the pandemic. Recently, the Orlando\nPolice Department organized a \u201clight up the night drive by salute\u201d through Lake\nNona\u2019s Laureate Park neighborhood and Medical City including Nemours Children\u2019s\nHospital and the VA. Resident-driven initiatives have also included \u201cChalk Your\nWalk\u201d covering community sidewalks with colorful words of encouragement and\nimpressions of the \u201cNona Lisa,\u201d to mask making brigades delivering hundreds of\nhomemade masks to first responders.<\/p>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
