{"id":25958109,"date":"2019-04-05T06:19:00","date_gmt":"2019-04-05T06:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakenona1stg.wpenginepowered.com\/surprise-mission-for-lake-nona-high-school-students\/"},"modified":"2024-09-05T04:31:22","modified_gmt":"2024-09-05T04:31:22","slug":"surprise-stem-mission-for-lake-nona-physics-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lakenona.com\/blog\/surprise-stem-mission-for-lake-nona-physics-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Surprise Mission for Lake Nona High School Students"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-ln-custom-text-block ln-custom-text-block\"><p>Lake Nona High School students were surprised with the ultimate STEM-inspired mission from Lockheed Martin<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An entire classroom of <a href=\"\/community\/lake-nona-high-school\/\">Lake Nona High School<\/a> students was\u00a0surprised\u00a0with the ultimate STEM-inspired mission from Lockheed Martin and Discovery Education: creating a prototype aircraft that could serve in a humanitarian aid mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;They are supposed to use some existing technology from\nLockheed Martin and their own brilliant minds and put it together and create a\nsolution,&#8221; said Kristine Richards Lake Nona High School Physics teacher.\n&#8220;They&#8217;re doing problem solving and finding solutions as they&#8217;re\nbuilding.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"484\" src=\"https:\/\/lakenona.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Lockheed-Martin-Lake-Nona-High-School-2-e1554927895315-1024x484-1.jpg\" alt=\"Surprise Mission for Lake Nona High School Students 1\" class=\"wp-image-25958633\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lakenona.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Lockheed-Martin-Lake-Nona-High-School-2-e1554927895315-1024x484-1.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/lakenona.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Lockheed-Martin-Lake-Nona-High-School-2-e1554927895315-1024x484-1-980x463.jpg 980w, https:\/\/lakenona.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Lockheed-Martin-Lake-Nona-High-School-2-e1554927895315-1024x484-1-480x227.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lockheed Martin engineers were on hand to help students complete\nthe aerospace design challenge, and they gifted Lake Nona High School&nbsp;with\na 3D printer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAdvancing STEM education is a critical focus for Lockheed\nMartin as we work to inspire the next generation of engineers, scientists and\ntechnologists,\u201d said Stephanie Asendorf, senior technology manager at Lockheed\nMartin in Orlando. \u201cFor me, bringing STEM to life in this classroom today is\nspecial as I\u2019m an Orange County Public Schools graduate who pursued a STEM\ncareer at a company that supports developing technology around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lake Nona is passionate about education. With three on-site universities and colleges within three miles, premier public schools and early education choices, our community was the ideal location for Lockheed Martin to launch the surprise STEM challenge.
